Does IEC 61216 exist?

Our attention has been drawn to a number of references “IEC 61216” being used in the solar photovoltaics (PV) industry, more particularly in the field of certification.

IEC Secretariat wishes to make clear that it has never issued an international standard (or any other publication) under the reference “IEC 61216”, neither in the PV field, nor in any other field.

The standard to be used in the field of solar photovoltaics is IEC 61215: 2005, Crystalline silicon terrestrial photovoltaic (PV) modules - Design qualification and type approval.

IEC 61215 is being revised; in its new edition (expected to be published in 2016) it will be available as a series of standards, under references IEC 61215-1, IEC 61215-1-1, IEC 61215-1-2, IEC 61215-1-3, IEC 61215-1-4, IEC 61215-2.
